My husband was in the Atlanta area years ago around 1999-2000 and obtained a CD of recorded music played by the Southwest Dekalb Band. Now that we have children of our own who are at the age to start band in middle school, we listen to this CD all the time to inspire them to want to play in the band as the middle school and high school bands aren't that great in our area of NC. I was wondering if Southwest Dekalb records a repertoire of music annualy and sale CDs.

Haven't read all the posts but I seem to be the oldest band alum so far, having played clarinet at SWD in 1964 and 1965 under our beloved "Mr. T". I was somewhat amused by the comments about it now being an all black band- in the 60-s it was all white. I yearn for the day Martin Luther King Jr's dream comes true and all that matters is the quality of the music and not the color of the person who is performing it. I'm so proud of the SWD band- where it's come from and where it is now.

I go to Townview Magnet in Dallas, home of the infamous Big "D" Band, did you all know we had the same band creed? Along with Samuell High in Dallas...and Medgar Evers in Brooklyn. That is all. Wish you all the best of luck this season.
